Dubrovnik (today! I've finally caught up with myself)

Leaving Split on a bus in the afternoon, we arrived in Dubrovnik yesterday about 9pm.  We checked into our guesthouse (which we are finding out are usually cheaper than hostels), then went for pizza, then went to bed.  

Today we went to see the Old Town which is surrounded by a very tall stone wall.  On our way into the fortified area, we saw a minstrel playing the guitar and harmonica.  We ended up talking with him and he told us about how much he enjoys playing music.  He then went on to tell us about his family and where he's from.  He was very sweet.  We parted ways and headed for lunch (a delicious kebab).  

After that we headed up some stairs to walk around the wall.  It took about two hours to walk around the entire thing.  It was very amazing seeing all the orange roofs pieced together amidst clock towers and churches which rose above their rooftops.  The other side of the wall looked out to the sea.  It was overcast weather, though still very hot and humid, which made the water blend with the skyline.  

After walking the wall, we wandered the streets to find an old cathedral.  As we walked in to admire the beautiful architecture, we realized that a mass was about to start.  So we decided to stay and experience a Croatian Mass.  It opened with a Croatian version of a song we sing back home, so that was nice (some familiarity).  The rest seemed to move along quickly since the priest didn't do a sermon, and there was only one reading.  After it ended, we went for dinner at a restaurant off one if the many sidesteets.  We had a mixed meat platter (pork, chicken, and lamb(?)) which is apparently a typical Croatian dish.  

We finished looking around the town by heading down a sidestreet to see where it lead.  We happened upon a huge cathedral which was very beautiful.  After that, we walked back to our room and figured out which bus we need to take to Sarajevo tomorrow.  We will be leaving Dubrovnik at 8:00am in order to get there at 2:00pm. 

Now we are sitting in an Internet cafe checking some emails and updating our blogs.  It's nice to finally be caught up with what we're doing!  Well that's all for now.  Until Sarajevo, ta ta!
